withMichael PotterBook Now!

In this workshop, Michael Potter will lead participants through making an ocarina using handbuilding techniques.

Michael will explain the technical aspect of making the whistle that brings the ocarina to life, and show attendees how to personalise their instrument with unique embellishments. He will also show participants how to turn ocarinas into animal shapes, such as whales, dolphins or turtles.

The techniques covered in this workshop are transferable to the making of other objects, and a great starting point for beginners.

About the Tutor

Michael’s interest in pottery is a varied one. From ocarinas to ceramic pinhole cameras to tableware, his work has been accepted, and recognised, in a number of exhibitions and awards.

With his tableware, Michael has concentrated on simple elegant forms with classic muted coloured glazes. This is a work in progress as new shapes are developed and added to the range.

Michael feels very lucky to be living and working in the Tasman region, with an overabundance of natural beauty as inspiration, a great network of supportive potters and artists.
